When God Turns Saul’s Attack Into His Humiliation | 1 Samuel 19:18–24

In 1 Samuel 19:18–24, Saul’s pursuit of David reaches an extraordinary moment. David flees to Samuel at Ramah, Saul sends men to capture him, and yet every group he sends is overcome by the Spirit of God and begins to prophesy. Finally, Saul goes himself—and the same thing happens to him. Why does God cause Saul and his messengers to prophesy? Why does Saul strip off his clothes and lie before Samuel? And what does this strange passage teach us about God’s sovereignty, His Spirit, and His protection of David?
